UNCOMMON
TRUTH BY ZINN
INTRODUCTION
This paper show a critical perspective on Howard Zinn’s article entitled
“Speaking Truth to Power with Books” that contain great
history, but it lost some of sense about truth history. An evidence truth form power of book
that Howard Zinn wrote. It was responsibility by him, but it did not
satisfy.
Howard
Zinn tried to rise up truth which trusted as change. Changes seen by him as a
positive change, like changing perspective people about the history of American
wrong. However a bad comment that come, the truth from evidence Howard Zinn did
not accept by people. Indeed it began from the book that created by him,
because of ideology war between Howard Zinn and People of America recently.
SUMMARY
In
this article explain about the history of American. Howard Zinn created a book
that entitled ‘A People’s History of American. In chapter 1 (one) Zinn
narration is history of Colombus Came to
Americann continent. This paper take several basic points about Howard Zinn
wrote on Columbus, whom we
ridicolusly percieve as the hero/the discoverer of America. When
Colombus come until event that happen from that, those are:
First,
history described about depiction that Colombus a conqueror, murderers, and
rapists of woman Arawaks. His ideology that reveal of human history, even bad
or good history, it still be history that unforgotten. When the people fight
Zinn, he did not move at all that it become a big question.
Second,
the evidence that Colombus came in 1924. This is the first time Colombus began
to his act, his goal to command American continent. Zinn wrote about it, how to
Colombus act. The form of dominate that described by Zinn, it means part of the
human history. It could be considered that Colombus as inventor American
continent is wrong.
Third,
cruelty is described by Zinn. The Indian and human progress become a trouble,
because they are work like an animal. Zinn wrote worker in Colombus era is not
good, and it is one of ways how to Colombus did for taking gold in that island.
Forth,
in book Zinn history mention many people pass away for about three million
people in Karibia that describe by Zinn.
Zinn explain it, because of Colombus cruelty, and the people poor such
as, forced labor, attack and disease.
CRITIQUE
In
this article there is lost some of sense about the truth history. Evidence can
change the people thinking, like History of American that wrote by Zinn, It is
not made clear who actual Colombus, if it connected by another history that
Colombus as hero. Base on the summary, so it will be show some of points on Columbus that are neglected in Zinn’s article.
First,
Zinn did not consistent and he did not say that actual inventor. Zinn did not
consistent because he opposite American people that Colombus is not actual
inventor, but he did not give another sign that there is another actual inventor.
It is compared with Colombus come in 1942 with another evidence which say that
Muslim person have been come before Colombus since 603 years ago. The name of sailor Muslim is Khaskhas, he was
success to arrive in Amecrica Continent 889M. This evidence has written in book
entitled “The Meadows of gold Qurraies of jewels”.
Second, Zinn forgot the aspect of
evidence that have already written by Colombus. Actually Colombus wrote about
arrival of Muslim people spread across in Karibian. This evidence be reinforced
in book that entitled Africa an Discovery of America (1920). This is the absolutely
book that Zinn forgot in this evidence. In the other side, it is about the time
1942 where Colombus came in Karibian, the evidence book in sentence before
about the time published it so far from Zinn describe 1942. It means that happen history engineering.
Third,
Zinn should not have wrote a Colombus that conqueror, murderers, and rapists of
woman Arawaks, because is not good for reader to read about it. The morality
that wrote by Zinn is not described with good. The fear is people thinks will
be contaminated by bad things. In the other hand Zinn minds that change
consciousness in life someone, but the evidence in this book is not perfectly
like good morality which teach by the Howard Zinn.
Fourth,
Zinn did not reveal perfectly about number of people Karibian death for three
million people. Though number of people previously in Karibian, it cannot be
estimated. This suggestion that truth Zinn about Colombus is not convincing,
and it cannot be considered that actual truth. Zinn estimates about depiction Colombus misses
point. It means that Zinn intentional made this evidence.
Fifth, Zinn ideology describing to conquer of
figure is an essential nation’s progressive. Therefore, it is bad ways or wrong
ways what Colombus do. When the bad ways used, it will be destroy people
thinking to look for the right way. It can be imitated by the people are not
responsible, and it will hurt a lot of people are honest, responsibility, and
kindness.
CONCLUSION
As
a result perspective Howard Zinn is not always give the evidence truth, as this
paper offers that Howard Zinn has weakness that cannot responsibility. The
display from the paragraphs before, that explain paradigm Howard Zinn did not
perfectly in history of Colombus. Zinn consistent also will be negative value
that, he cannot solve about the figure of Colombus truly. He get lost some of
sense in giving evidence that he wrote. This paper have already to show
critical perspective Howard Zinn on Colombus, It show that conclusion about the
critical from Howard Zinn perspective. There are two basic Conclude that taken
by Zinn’s article. First, ideology Zinn view that evidence is a something which
reveals truth about what he learn and what he get from his analyze. Second,
Zinn experience is going to give enlightened what people think. He give
something that unknown by people, what he put on an evidence it has result
about the positive value. For instance, Zinn is not bad what people imagine
about him, in papers own glasses actually Zinn do history Engineering or
exactly in view of linguistic Zinn do Literacy Engineering.
